Introspection series — 10 x 12 in — Oak Park studio

One model. Two viewpoints. A closeness that almost becomes a single body.

The figures lean back into one another against lavender, pale yellow, and traces of print. One face is ochre, the other blue. Dark lines briefly separate them; the surrounding color keeps bringing them together.

I used the same model from different perspectives to explore the feeling of knowing someone so well that separateness begins to loosen. The image holds a useful contradiction: one person appears as two, while the relationship suggests two people becoming one. What joins them is trust, the quiet certainty that something will hold even when you lean back without looking.
