Butterfly — 24x24 in — Oak Park studio

She meets your eye. The patterns take their time.

A direct gaze holds the portrait while violet moves through the hair, honeycomb-like marks cross the face, and writing settles into one cheek. Turquoise clothing gives the eye another field to explore. Against green and gold, the figure remains unmistakably present.

Butterfly brings portrait and pattern close enough that neither can be treated as background. The face has its own expression; its fragments add other rhythms without explaining it away. Look quickly and you meet a person. Stay a little longer and the image begins offering smaller encounters, a line of text, a change of texture, a shape repeated where you did not first notice it.

About the artist
Satish Prabhu brings travel, reading, and everyday encounters into a practice of reconstruction. Figures, interiors, and familiar objects become ways to explore memory, belonging, and the distance between people. This is an original, artist-created work, not an AI-generated image.
