Some paintings find their subject. This one found its soul by serendipity.

What began as an abstract mixed media exploration gradually revealed itself — pulling back toward the figurative, toward memory, toward a moment frozen in gold. During the work's development, a small gilded plate appeared on the studio table — a keepsake from Agra, purchased nearly fifteen years ago from the master artisans of Agra and Jaipur. A pilgrimage with aging parents. The Taj Mahal at dusk.

The patterns on the plate and the patterns on the canvas spoke the same language. Within a day, the painting was complete.

I remember the time I spent with my parents fondly — this journey to Agra remains one of the most treasured chapters of my life, and it lives on in every brushstroke of this piece.
