This painting was born from two towering works of art: Van Gogh's The Yellow House and Matisse's Morocco paintings.
From Van Gogh came the boldness of color and the emotional weight of a single place. From Matisse came the light, the arcs, and the figures of Tangier — a world seen through a painter's eye rather than a traveler's lens. Together, they shaped a mixed-media work that layers geometry, texture, and memory into a single composition.
At the center is a snake charmer, photographed outside the famous gate in Tangier while retracing Matisse's footsteps through Morocco. His black robe and yellow turban — those two colors — unlocked the painting and brought it to life.
