Since the early years of my adulthood, I am a big fan of the great Ingmar Bergman. I was mesmerized by his subjects, characters and photography. It became the yardstick for what I considered as a masterpiece in motion pictures. In my opinion, he is one of the very few artists who elevated the art of movie-making to the level achieved by Picasso or Van Gogh.
In the later years, when I started working with mixed media, I wondered if I can create something with some of the haunting images from his movies that were etched on my mind forever.
In 2019, his centennial birth year, I finally started working on this piece in the canvas of my mind a collage of the images The Seventh Seal, The Silence, Wild Strawberries and Persona.
But actually started the work in the Summer of 2020 the covid lockdown year, when I was locked at home in my home studio a perfect time to work on this topic right? This work is 6'x8'. It took me a couple of months to finish this work with help of multi-media, actual drawings, charcoal, paper, acrylic etc.
I wan't sure if I was done, so I wrapped up this huge canvas for almost six months and opened it just this week to see how the painting has aged well. You be the judge
This week, finally I added the final layer of digital signatures on it.
Hope you like it.
